We have signed a contract for the design and expansion of National Road No. 25 on the section between Zbiersk and Kokanin. The contractor, Strabag, has 39 months from the signing date to complete the project, which is valued at PLN 484,134,160.50. Drivers will be able to use the new 18-kilometre route in the fourth quarter of 2029.
The project will be delivered under a Design & Build contract. Within 10 months, the contractor will prepare the construction design and submit an application for a building permit (ZRID). Obtaining the permit is expected to take around seven months, followed by 22 months of on-site construction, excluding winter periods from 16 December to 15 March. On-site works are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027.
The route runs along the eastern side of the existing DK25, bypassing the towns of Zbiersk Cukrownia, Stawiszyn, Piątek Mały (Piątek Mały Kolonia), Witoldów, and ends at the intersection with the existing DK25 in Kokanin Kolonia, after which the next construction section begins, covering the Kokanin – Biskupice Ołoboczne stretch, part of the Kalisz bypass.
The project includes:
a GP-class road (main accelerated traffic) with two carriageways of two lanes each,
three road junctions: Zbiersk Cukrownia, Petryki, and Piątek Mały,
reconstruction of existing roads affected by the main route,
construction and upgrading of pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure,
engineering structures, drainage systems, and environmental protection facilities,
reconstruction of colliding utilities and existing underground and overhead infrastructure networks.
The investment will be carried out from 2026 to 2029 under the Government Program for the Construction of National Roads until 2030 (with a perspective to 2033).
The expansion of DK25 from Konin – Kalisz – Ostrów Wielkopolski involves adapting the existing road to GP-class, dual carriageway standards, mostly along a new alignment. The project will provide bypasses for several towns currently traversed by DK25, including Konin, Rychwał, Zbiersk, Kokanin, Kalisz, and Biskupice Ołoboczne.
For the sections Konin – Rychwał (12 km) and Rychwał – Zbiersk (13.1 km), the President of the Public Procurement Office is currently reviewing the contracts. Once approved, agreements with contractors can be signed.
On 12 December 2025, a tender was announced for the design and construction of the Kalisz bypass (Kokanin – Biskupice Ołoboczne) along DK25, covering 18 km, to be carried out from 2026 to 2030 under the 100 Bypasses Program, with offers due by 18 February 2026.
On 18 June 2025, we signed a contract for the design and expansion of a 6+ km section of DK25 from Biskupice Ołoboczne to Ostrów Wielkopolski. Design works are currently underway, and drivers will use the new section in the fourth quarter of 2028. The contractor, Grupa Mirbud, is executing the project for PLN 266,767,440.20.
The full nearly 70-kilometre route from Konin through the Kalisz bypass to Ostrów Wielkopolski is expected to be completed by 2030.
