The Wrocław Branch of GDDKiA hosted representatives from the Czech Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) from the Hradec Králové office to discuss the connection between Poland’s S3 expressway and the Czech D11 motorway.
The S3 expressway, running along Poland’s western border, spans nearly 500 km and forms part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), linking the Baltic Sea to the Adriatic and partially to the North Sea. It is also part of the E65 European route, approximately 4,400 km long (including ferry connections), stretching from Malmö, Sweden, to Chania, Crete. In Poland, S3 runs north-south from Świnoujście to the southern border at Lubawka, connecting with A6 near Szczecin, A2 near Świebodzin, and A4 near Legnica. Within Lower Silesia, S3 covers 135 km.
The Czech D11 motorway, running from Prague through Hradec Králové to the border at Lubawka, will total about 155 km. The section from Prague to Hradec Králové is already completed. The final border segment (Jaroměř – Trutnov – state border), nearly 41 km, is currently under construction, divided into three parts:
Polish-Czech border – Královec: 3.3 km
Královec – Trutnov: 17.9 km
Trutnov – Jaroměř: 19.5 km
According to the latest updates, the entire route is expected to be completed by 2028. Currently, the Czech side is focusing on the Královec-to-border section, which will directly connect the two countries. The anticipated connection date for the S3 and D11 highways is Q3 2026.
