POLREGIO has signed a contract with PESA Bydgoszcz for the delivery of six modern ELF 3.0 electric multiple units. The order is worth PLN 214.8 million net, with the first vehicles scheduled to be delivered to the operator in mid-2029.
The new three-car trains will serve regional and suburban routes. Each unit will accommodate at least 310 passengers, including 190 seated passengers. The trains will be equipped with air conditioning, passenger information systems, Wi-Fi, power sockets and USB ports, as well as bicycle spaces and a defibrillator. They will also be fully accessible to passengers with disabilities.
The contract includes a firm order for six vehicles, with an option to purchase an additional 16 units. POLREGIO’s decision to exercise this option will depend on securing funding from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS) programme.
The new contract represents another stage in the development of PESA Bydgoszcz and strengthens the company’s offering across all key railway market segments – from trams and next-generation electric multiple units to long-distance rolling stock capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h. Investments in expanding the company’s production facilities and automating manufacturing processes are enabling PESA to efficiently meet its growing order book in Poland and abroad.

The development of the company’s modern manufacturing and technological capabilities is part of PFR’s broader efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of Polish industry and build strong domestic companies capable of competing on international markets.

The Polski Fundusz Rozwoju (PFR) is co-financing the construction of a new intermodal terminal for CLIP Group in Zabrze. The investment, valued at approximately PLN 145 million, is being developed on post-industrial land previously occupied by the Makoszowy coal mine and JSW Koks facilities, with completion scheduled for mid-2026.
