The sector plans a billion- dollar investment . Biggest air craft companies have already aquired old factories or build new ones. First place is occupied by US company -United Technologies Corporation (UTC).
Hundreds millions of zlotys were spent by new owners for modernization of local factories like PZL Swidnik – Italian-British helicopter corporation Agusta Westland. Similarly, Italian Avio, which owns rapid developing site in Bielsko-Biala. Engineering centre, currently under the development stage, is expanded near the Warsaw by General Electric. Others are Bavarian MTU in Rzeszow, French corporation Hispano Suiza (Sedziszow Mazowiecki) and Airbus Military.
However, UTC is the biggest. It hires already nearly 9 000 employees and is still investing. This year, one its subsidiaries – Hamilton Sundstrand has bought PZL Wroclaw, the producer of airplane fuel and hydraulic systems and constructs planes in sub Carpathian Aviation valley- a factory of secondary airplane engines. A touch of American giant is also felt in WSK Rzeszow, where parts of engines are produced.
UTC invests not only in aviation sector. In Ropczyce Gloria factory, the fire extinguishing equipment is produced. Estimations shows that US companies has already invested nearly 400 million dollars.
The Baltic Sea today plays a crucial role in the energy security of Poland and the wider region. It serves as a key route for oil and gas supplies, hosts underwater power and fiber-optic cables, and is the site of large-scale offshore wind farms that will supply Poland’s energy system in the coming years. With the growing strategic importance of the Baltic Sea and the ongoing war in Ukraine, the scale of threats to critical offshore infrastructure is also increasing.
