According to the information from MIoR, its officials would like to start with two helicopters equipped with traffic enforcement cameras for the beginning, and later even more, some of them would probably be unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to the official reports, the process of purchasing the machineries is currently carried out. These changes are possible thanks to the amendments in the Law of road traffic and its advanced chapter number 129.
“At the design stage of central system of automatic traffic surveillance, a careful consideration was given to the possibility to officially authorize MIoR to record traffic offenses from the deck of an aircraft.” says the press secretary of MIoR, Jan Mroz.
It has been estimated that during an hour flight over the motorway from Warsaw to Krakow around 1000 drivers’ offences could be registered. Thus, MIoR will implement a complex system consisting of stationary traffic enforcement cameras and unlabeled police cars. The pictures, taken by the system, are sent via internet to the central system of automatic traffic surveillance, where fines are issued. There are 200 workers in this department.
There are 10 officers in the special department of Polish Police Headquarters, which deals with recovery of proceeds of crime.
We have signed a contract for the design and expansion of National Road No. 25 on the section between Zbiersk and Kokanin. The contractor, Strabag, has 39 months from the signing date to complete the project, which is valued at PLN 484,134,160.50. Drivers will be able to use the new 18-kilometre route in the fourth quarter of 2029.
