Set up in 2007, Lublin’s sub-Special Economic Zone (part of SEZ Euro-Park Mielec) is becoming attracts capital. However, only five firms have invested about 220 million zlotys.
- We are behind others. A great obstacle for enterprises is an infrastructure. Region suffers from lack of good roads; it is not easy to send products outside the country. Soon, the new airport in Świdnik will be finished, but it is definitely too late. Few years ago, at least cargo would be useful for some grocery contracts. - Magadalena Jocek chief of Lublin’s Business Club says.
Those obstacles caused resignation that one of the biggest IT companies - Comarch, which a few years ago were considering an investment.
Gracja Marcewicz from Department of strategy and Investment service from Lublin municipal office states that liveliness is coming. - Most of new permissions we had given between 2009 and 2010. Investments are in progress - Marcewicz says. So far permission for running the business have received 15 companies, which have declared spending at the level of 550 million zlotys and employment of 900 workers until 2013. The biggest amount- 200 million zlotys will invest Ball Packing.
The SEZ that currently counts 120 ha will soon be extended by next 40 ha. -We negotiate with automotive and biotechnology companies. We already have more application than available area. - the deputy says.
